The Barsey Rhododendron trek offers a perfect blend of scenic beauty, moderate adventure, and an immersive nature experience, making it an ideal trek for those seeking tranquility amidst nature. Located in the vibrant region of Sikkim, this trek is renowned for its stunning display of rhododendron flowers, especially during the blooming season in March and April.

Starting from NJP, the journey leads you to Okhrey, where the trek begins. The next day, you will trek to the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary, a gentle 4 km trek that provides an opportunity to witness a beautiful range of rhododendron species in their full bloom. The sanctuary, with its lush landscapes and serene atmosphere, is a photographer’s delight and a paradise for nature lovers. After a restful night in Barsey, the trek concludes with a return journey to Okhrey and then back to NJP.

Best experienced in the spring months, this trek offers a soothing escape amidst the colorful blooms of rhododendrons and the quiet, peaceful trails of Sikkim.

The Barsey Rhododendron trek is a charming adventure, combining easy trails, incredible floral displays, and a deep connection with nature, leaving trekkers with lasting memories of Sikkim’s beauty.

Day 1 : NJP TO OKHREY

  • After we reach NJP, head towards Okhrey by car. Night stay near Okhrey.

Day 2 : OKHREY TO BARSEY

  • Start your day by trekking to Hilley and trek to Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary.Trek to Barsey
    Rhododendron Sanctuary is around 4 KM with not much steep road. So one way journey would take you
    around 2 Hours depending on your walking ability. But rest assured, it's one of the easiest treks in
    Sikkim.Night Stay at Barsey.(A chance of spotting Rhododendron is high on March-April.)

Day 3 : BARSEY TO OKHREY

  • After breakfast, trek back to santuary gate from Barsey.Then head towards NJP station.
