Tadoba

OVERVIEW

TADOBA

Tadoba, officially known as the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, is one of the oldest and most prestigious national parks in Maharashtra, India. Located in the Chandrapur district, the reserve covers an area of approximately 1,727 square kilometers, encompassing dense forests, rolling hills, bamboo thickets, grasslands, and serene lakes. It derives its name from the local tribal deity "Taru" and the Andhari River that meanders through the reserve.

Tadoba is best known for its healthy population of Bengal tigers, making it one of the top destinations in India for tiger sightings. In addition to tigers, the park is home to a diverse range of wildlife including leopards, sloth bears, Indian gaur, wild dogs (dholes), hyenas, sambar deer, and marsh crocodiles. The reserve also supports a vibrant birdlife with over 200 recorded species, making it a paradise for bird watchers.

The park is open to visitors during specific seasons and offers jeep safaris for wildlife viewing. With its rich biodiversity, scenic landscapes, and commitment to conservation, Tadoba stands out as a vital refuge for wildlife and a popular ecotourism destination in central India.
