The Black Forest Trek is a serene and lesser-known trail within Singalila National Park, located in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. This 4-day trek covers approximately 14 kilometres and is considered easy, making it suitable for beginners and families.
Starting from Rimbick, the route meanders through dense forests rich in biodiversity, including oak, magnolia, and rhododendron trees. Trekkers can enjoy the sights and sounds of the Eastern Himalayan wilderness, with opportunities to spot exotic wildlife such as the red panda and Himalayan black bear.
The trail also offers cultural experiences, passing through quaint mountain villages where trekkers can savour authentic Nepali cuisine and learn to pitch tents, enhancing the adventure. The best time to undertake this trek is from mid-September to the end of May, avoiding the monsoon season when the park is closed to visitors.
For those seeking a peaceful and immersive Himalayan trekking experience, the Black Forest Trek provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural richness.
