Kurseong is a peaceful and refreshing getaway into the heart of the Eastern Himalayas. Known as the "Land of White Orchids," Kurseong welcomed us with cool mountain air, rolling hills, and an old-world charm that felt timeless. The journey begins with a scenic drive through winding roads lined with dense pine forests and tea gardens stretching as far as the eye can see.
The Makaibari Tea Estate, one of the oldest and most renowned in the region, where we learned about the art of tea-making and tasted some of the finest organic teas. A walk through the quaint town led us past colonial-era buildings, quiet monasteries, and friendly locals who shared stories of the hill station's rich history and culture.
One of the highlights was Eagle’s Crag, a viewpoint offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and distant snow-capped peaks. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, added a nostalgic charm to the visit with its slow, rhythmic journey through the hills.
Kurseong was not just a destination, but an experience of tranquillity and natural beauty. It offered a perfect blend of relaxation, gentle adventure, and cultural richness — a much-needed retreat from the noise of everyday life.
